Auction Update Review
10, 9, 8
For the week ending Saturday August 10th 7 auctions were archived to the AED, 5 auctions denominated in US dollars and 2 in euros. These are the quiet moments and the chance to be both involved and at peace [as in peace and quiet]. The pace will soon quicken so these moments, are appreciated.
For these 7 sales 1,359 lots were offered and 1,095 sold for an 81% success rate. No sales reached the million-dollar level but it hardly matters. Total sales were $1,011,577. The vast majority of lots are important to some bidders but in these quieter months perhaps to fewer bidders than will be the case in the march of rising sales that will peak in December.
One sale saw their total dollars reach 100% of the total of the high estimates:
Northeast Auctions. Americana – Historical Prints on August 2nd: 133%
Four auctions saw at least 80% of their lots sell:
Bruun Rasmussen. Old Prints on August 5th: 100%
Northeast Auctions. Americana, Historical Prints on August 2nd: 98%
Heritage Auctions [HA.com]. Rare Books. Internet bidding ended August 8th: 96%
Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. Fine Books and Manuscripts on August 7th: 85%
For the week ahead 8 sales are scheduled:
