1920s "flapper," the It Girl, Clara Bow.


Item 89 is an unusual title: Self-Portrait. Book People Picture Themselves. From the Collection of Burt Britton. Britton was a bookseller at New York's Strand Book Store and he managed to get hundreds of writers to draw their own portraits. Among those whose "artwork" can be found in this 1976 book are Tennessee Williams, Lillian Hellman, Kurt Vonnegut, Allen Ginsburg, Susan Sontag, Truman Capote, Jorge Luis Borges, Woody Allen and Philip Roth. $300.
