If you understand what this book is about, then you, too, can get your card punched for the dinosaur generation: Practical Applications of the Punched Card Method in Colleges and Universities. Oak Knoll describes editor G.W. Baehne's work as, "A landmark book in the developing use of 'punched card' methods to speed the use of calculation and which eventually led to electronic methods of computation." I was still kind of young when this form of pre-computer data retrieval was the latest technology, but machines would read the location of holes punched in hundreds of cards and this must have provided the equivalent of bytes of information. This book will teach you how to operate these machines, although it may be difficult to locate one. Item 8. $225.
