Number 141 is the oldest item in the catalogue. Louis-Antoine Caraccioli’s Le Livre de Quatre Couleurs is an unusual early example of color printing. It’s four colors, but not what we think of as four-color printing today. The four colors are yellow, blue, brown, and orange, and each section is printed in one of these colors. The book is described as “an amusing text on manners, etiquette, and the social life of the 18th century.” $650.
For collectors of Canadiana, there’s Carl Klinck’s Literary History of Canada, Canadian Literature in English. This is a history of English language literature in Canada, at least as of 1965. Item 380. $25. Item 485 is Robert McLeod’s Markland or Nova Scotia, Its History, Natural Resources and Native Beauties. This is a history and description of the Atlantic Province as of 1903. $150.
