1840, 12th May Mulready usage with penny black plate 1a tied by neat red Maltese cross and with four good margins.

1840 1d black plate 11 (R-J) on cover.

The so-called white (or oxidised pink) Maltese cross of Cirencester, tying three-margins plate 8 penny black to a large part of cover incorporating clearly struck Cirencester Feb.

Haslingden Penny Post cancels tying penny blacks, both four-margins: plate 3 on cover and plate 7 on front, each with additional postmarks.

London receiving house postmarks: 'T.P. Portugal St.' tying four-margin penny black (plate 4) along with red MX on large-part cover; and 'TP Deptford' alongside four-margin 1d black (plate 9) on cover with black MX not tying.

Orkney: a nice pair of covers showing the orange-brown Maltese cross of Kirkwall, the crosses each tying excellent four-margin penny blacks: plate 1b August 1840 to Edinburgh, plate 3 July 1840 to Peebles.

Two splendid examples of red Maltese crosses of Scotland: Edinburgh tying plate 5 (four margins, very close along top) on cover of 29th July 1840, and the distinctive Perth cross tying plate 6 (four margins) on cover of 12th August 1840.

1840 2d blue plate 2 horizontal pair (only lower margin complete) tied by black Maltese crosses to cover with London croix patée (Nov.19 1841) and Kendal blue cds arrival pmk.

1841 2d blue plate 3, tied on large-part cover (top and bottom flaps but no sides) by number 7 in Maltese cross, the cancel clear on four-margined stamp essentially unaffected by foxing at edges of sheet.

1858-79 1d red mint inscription multiples: plate 106 top two rows of the sheet with full top margin inscription and circled plate numbers at left and right, though missing stamp AA, some perf issues on lower left stamps and some reinforcement; plate 170 r
