AED records, once selected, are saved as wants lists and uploaded both to the internet and to match against all lots in upcoming book auctions. This puts you immediately in position to follow every identified item in your field of interest as they turn up. And while it is great fun to read auction catalogues you will quickly realize that the flow of material that is identified in this way simply reallocates your time from pedestrian searching to qualitative evaluation. This is in fact how you become a master of your chosen subject. Truth be told, within a few months you are going to emerge as a leading authority in your area of interest. All right, I’ll admit that totally understanding TOPEKA may not get your obituary into the New York Times. But it will be a wonderful challenge. For those of you starting on the Topeka challenge tonight there are 550 priced records waiting to be evaluated.

Very quickly you’ll know much more about your subject because you are using exceptional tools to focus on it. Hobbes said “Knowledge is power.” Einstein later said, “Imagination is more powerful than knowledge” .
