Matching its earlier attendance records, the upcoming Detroit event anticipates a large and lively crowd of bibliophiles -- booksellers, book buyers, connoisseur collectors, teachers, students, and everyday people from the Motor City. As AI and other innovations continue to challenge the future of the physical book, public book events remind us of the contribution of real-time, in-person gatherings to the cultural health of a city.
