The Antiquarian Bookseller’s Association of America recently confirmed that Terrace Horticultural Books of 503 St. Clair Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota has joined the membership. The firm is a one-man operation, Kent Petterson, providing an open book shop M-F, noon to 5:00pm, and by chance and appointment outside of those hours. Terrace has been in business for more than 30 years and has seen both the decline and renewal of interest with changes in the economy. Today, around 25% of all adults enjoy gardening as a hobby while about one third have reading and outdoors as their most important activities. “Clients are no problem, it is the reach of ABAA that we anticipate will help introduce us to new clients.”
While Terrace is a new ABAA member, he has long been a serious book dealer in a serious book town. As their name suggests, “their focus is horticultural books specializing in plant and natural history related books, periodicals, seed and plant catalogs, journals, prints and ephemera, rare and out-of-print. Terrace Horticultural Books (THB) is the largest stocking seller of books, ephemera, journals and periodicals, seed and plant catalogs related to plants and gardening in the USA and now have expanded into exploration/travel and natural history.”
“Our clientele share their love of plants inside the shop and out. Good gardening practice and love of nature are exemplified in our landscaped property and pollinator gardens as well as their support of like organizations.”
When you come to Saint Paul, Minnesota, the mighty Mississippi will be seen from the nearby bluff a few blocks from our shop in the oldest neighborhood of the city. Nearby, as well, there are many museums and fine restaurants.
For those who can’t make the trip, we are busy everyday responding to questions and inquiries on line at our own site, on ABE and Amazon. Here are our connecting details and hope to meet you personally.
