Nineteen new catalogues.

This month we review 19 new catalogues, many prepared for the recent California Antiquarian Book Fair. Donald Heald Rare Books features Americana, travels & voyages, natural history and more. Douglas Stewart Fine Books focuses on historic journeys. Antiquariat Kainbacher divides their time between travels and science, with some Ethiopian material thrown in.

 

Back of Beyond Books covers Americana, the American West, literature, and much more. The William Reese Company limits its Americana to Colonial times. David Lesser Fine Antiquarian Books targets Americana, with most items ranging from the late colonial period to Reconstruction.

 

Yesterday's Muse Books offers books pertaining to Italian history and culture, along with the Grand Tour. Shapero Rare Books focuses specifically on the Ottoman world.

 

Antiquates Ltd. highlights the 16th and 17th centuries. Liber Antiquus similarly focuses on early books and manuscripts. John Windle Antiquarian Bookseller offers material in theology and philosophy, while the Philadelphia Rare Books and Manuscripts Company has bibles, theology and similar items, even witchery, available.

 

The 19th Century Shop presents some magnificent books and manuscripts. Heritage Book Shop has a selection of rare first editions, fine books and original illustrations. Sophie Schneideman Rare Books focuses on private presses, illustrated books, fine bindings, calligraphy and prints. David Brass Rare Books offers classics, artistic and illustrated books, and more. Bernard Quaritch Ltd. features a variety taken to the recent California Book Fair. Same goes for Bruce McKittrick Rare Books. Peter Harrington offers rare and important books and manuscripts.
