Mr. Fonsie Mealy and his son George F.

The name Mealy has long been associated with the Fine Art and Antiquarian Book Trade in Ireland. Established by George Mealy in 1934, the name Mealy is synonymous with one of Ireland's foremost auction houses in the field. In 2013, the firm divided into Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers and Mealy's. Both trace their heritage to the house established by George Mealy over 80 years ago.

 

Fonsie Mealy joined his father's firm in 1966. He is an acknowledged expert in rare books, manuscripts, historical memorabilia and fine arts, having received much of his training from George Mealy. Fonsie's son, George Fonsie Mealy, joined in 2005. Today, George and George Fonsie operate Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers. Their auctions continue to be run from the location at Old Cinema, Chatsworth Street, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny, as they have for nearly half a century.
