Timothy Hughes Rare and Early Newspapers Launches Their New Website

Timothy Hughes' new website.

Timothy Hughes Rare and Early Newspapers recently launched a new website. If you like old newspapers, and I will admit to this being a passion of mine, you will love the new site. They have managed to pack the site with information, while at the same time making it very easy to use. The folks at Amazon could learn something from Timothy Hughes' site.

You might say the site is a bit “boxy,” but in a positive sense. The most popular categories of newspapers are displayed in illustrated boxes. The first three are devoted to featured items, such as their latest catalogue or Abraham Lincoln. The remainder go to popular categories, including the Revolutionary War, Civil War, Wild West, Sports, and the Second World War. Do you collect subjects less common? Just click the slider button to reveal 66 categories. Looking for topics still more obscure? No problem. The top of the home page includes a search box. You can search within a category or search all categories. Do you want to limit your results to certain dates? Again, no problem. Select a date range.

There are many more features beyond finding newspapers to purchase on the site. There is a blog to assist collectors, some helpful videos, an option to select a newspaper from the day you were born (or other “historic” date), a selection of items for storage and display, and more.

Timothy Hughes Rare and Early Newspapers has been selling old newspapers for the past 30 years. It's a specialty not often found, newspapers frequently being a few scattered items among a collction of books offered for sale. Hughes offers a selection of over 20,000 newspapers, some going back as early as the 1500s. If you are looking for an old newspaper, primarily American and English, this is most likely your best chance of finding a match.
