Week 5, Spring 2010, Nine Auctions Archived through February 6, 2010
There were nine sales archived this week. The largest sale by dollars was the Christies Impressionists / Modern Works on Paper Sale that raised $10,883,922 in London. The Risvold Sale of Postal History "and some books" at Spink Shreve Galleries in New York realized $8.128 million over three days. The books were so-so and represented less than 12% of the lots.
For the week 5,255 lots were offered and 4,316 sold for an 82% sell-through. Lower reserves are stimulating bidding.
The aggregate low estimate was $9,281,197 and the aggregate high $13,501,426. Sales totaled $21,241,509, a 57% premium on the aggregate high estimate, a 129% premium on the low estimate.
