In 1994, he retired as a lieutenant colonel from the United States Army with a little over twenty years of service, and in 2012 he retired once more, the second time from a civilian position as the Director of the United States Marine Corps Research Center. Now, he has become a serious bookseller and since 2013 a member of the American Booksellers Association of America. What went wrong? We were dying to know.
