Nineteen new booksellers catalogues are up for review this month. Naturally, there is a great variety this time. Bauman Rare Books features “85 Great Books,” and these are great books indeed. Shapero Rare Books presents “50 Fine Books,” and these, too, are fine. Peter Harrington also offers a selection of exceptional books. Antiquariats Banzhaf and Kuhn combine to present works featuring images, photographs, and nature printing. The Veatchs Arts of the Book are focused on fine printing.
Bernard Quartich has a selection of travel books. Antiquariat Eigl is also focused on travel and exploration. Johanson Rare Books and Pr-Ph Rare Books go way back in time, offering classics from antiquity. Athena Rare Books has a catalogue for thinkers, the subject being philosophers and psychologists. The Lawbook Exchange has books for a legal mind, legal texts along with some more popular accounts of gruesome murders and the like. Justin Croft Antiquarian Books has some fascinating old manuscripts. Bookseller and appraiser Charles Goldsmid, and Antiquariaat Forum together with Asher Rare Books offer a variety of material.
Several booksellers feature Americana this month. Kaaterskill Books offers works from America, both North and South. The William Reese Company and Gene W. Baade Books on the West focus on Western Americana. John Howell for Books also features Western Americana, but with a concentration on California. The George S. MacManus Company presents a catalogue on material from the Civil War.
