Latin American and Spanish Books from Libreria de Antano

Item 32 is a holograph letter from Simon Bolivar, known as "the Liberator," or "the George Washington of South America," to his sister, Maria Antonio. Bolivar led the forces which liberated much of South America, including the present countries of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama, from Spain. However, this letter pertains to more personal matters, specifically, financial concerns of the family. $8,400.

Item 67 is an early work by Argentinean writer Julio Cortazar. Cortazar was not satisfied with most of his early writing, at first publishing only under a pseudonym. His most notable work, Hopscotch, did not appear until 1963. However, in 1949 he did publish a long, dramatic poem, The Kings, under his own name. This is a first edition of that work, Los Reyes, published in Buenos Aires. $540.
