Sotheran's 250th Anniversary Catalogue

This may not quite make it as the most significant book of its year. It was up against the Great Gatsby that year, but it may well be the most popular book of 1925 today. Item 195 is the first of the Winnie-the-Pooh books, When We Were Very Young. A. A. Milne had put his pen to other works, both short and long, even a mystery novel, but it is the four Pooh books, appreciated by young and old alike, for which Milne is appreciated. £2,950 (US $4,812).

Everyone loves railroads, and every railroad buff will like this picture of the rail yards at Clapham Junction (see image this page). Clapham Junction may not be familiar to most people, but it is in the greater London area, and it's where the trains can be found. This lithograph from Terence Cuneo was published by the British Rail Southern Region in 1961. £950 (US $1,548).
