Children's Books from Aleph-Bet Books

Item 134 is a collection of Four Little Skeezix Books: Skeezix at the Circus, Skeezix and Pal, Skeezix and Uncle Walt, and Skeezix Out West. These books were published between 1925 and 1928, so Skeezix, the abandoned baby found on Walt Wallet's doorstep, would have been in the 4-8 age range. Uncle Walt would have still been in his 20s. How time flies! Skeezix will hit 90 in the coming year and must have his adoptive father's genes, even if the two are genetically unrelated. Uncle Walt has defied all talk about overweight being unhealthy, having recently passed his 110th birthday and still doing quite well considering his age. $325.

Item 348 is one of the great classics of children's books, beloved not only in its home setting of Boston, but just about everywhere else too. Make Way for Ducklings was first published in 1941 (offered is a first edition), the creation of Robert McCloskey. We don't want to give away the ending, but let's just say that mother duck and her eight ducklings need to make their way from the Charles River to Boston Public Garden, and the little ones can't yet fly. With some help from the police, the citizens of Boston are made to "make way" for this family of ducks. The duck family is memorialized with a statue in the Boston Public Garden today. $16,500.
