Auction Update Review

The Quiet before the Storm
For the week ending Saturday
September 29th, 2012 15 auctions were archived to the AED, 3 in US
dollars, 3 in Swiss francs, 2 in British pounds, 1 in Canadian dollars and 6 in
euros. Five thousand five hundred and
ninety-six lots were offered and 3,777 sold for a 67.5% success rate. Total turnover was $4,547,571 or 73% of the
high estimate of all lots offered.
No sales, looking exclusively at
their book, manuscript, map and ephemera lots, sold a million dollars of
material. Of course, the Brook Astor Sale
at Sotheby’s realized $19 million but only 29 of the 902 lots were in the
categories AE encompasses. These lots
realized $237,193.
Four sales reached 100% of the
total of the high estimates for all lots offered:
