Auction Update Review
Week Four, Fall 2009, Sales Archived through 10.04.09
This past week fifteen sales were archived. A few dated back to mid September. For the full month AE covered 35 sales of which 34 are now reported and archived. These sales totaled 20,302 lots. For the 34 archived sales 66% of all lots sold. The results were spotty. In total US$17,098,505 changed hands.
As soon as the final September sale is archived the monthly charts will be updated. The updated charts will be accessible on the Upcoming Auctions page within two days.
While we do not officially report eBay results, anecdotally, listings there appear to be well off year earlier levels. It's logical that some material that becomes less saleable at traditional auction will flow there. There is some evidence to suggest this but eBay is not an easy site for older demographics.
In October the flow of auctions will continue to increase. Sixty-three sales are currently scheduled.
While the auction results are less than robust they probably represent a significant out-performance of the rest of the market.
