Auction Update Review
Summer is upon us
For the week ending June 25th
fifteen auctions were archived, three denominated in dollars, four in British
pounds and eight in Euros. Nine thousand
five hundred and seventy-five lots were offered and 5,143 sold. Absent Kiefer that offered 5,658 lots and
sold 2,181 of them [38.5%], the other sales together sold 75.6% of their lots.
Four of the fifteen sales reached
or exceeded 100% of the high estimate for all their lots:
Osenat. The French Empire in Fontainbleau on June 5th: 266%;
Piasa. Petite Prints on June 9th: 195%;
Piasa. Manuscript – Second Vacation on June 21st: 159%
Christie’s. Vintage Film Posters on June 15th: 125%
For the items that sold the
aggregate low estimate was $3,012,085 and the aggregate high estimate
$3,838,052. The total of the high
estimates for all lots, sold and unsold, was $6,406,519, the total of all
completed transactions $5,593,855 or 87.3% of the total of the high estimates.
