Posting to Craig's List

- by Thomas C. McKinney

The posting screen. Very simple and straight-forward.

Once your ad is finished, be sure to include and confirm a real email address. You will need to check your email for a confirmation in order for your posting to go through!

When you're all done, click "Continue" at the very bottom of the page. A preview of your posting will be displayed. Make sure it's to your liking and when you're ready, click continue again. Agree to the Terms of Use, and fill out the spam censor. Clicking this last "Continue" will all but post the ad to the site. One last step is needed.

Check your email. Ensure that the email from Craigslist was not picked up by a spam blocker you may have installed on your computer. Inside there will be a link. Clicking on it will confirm your posting and activate it for the live site.

Some things to keep in mind:

1. Craigslist postings expire after one week.

2. When potential buyers are browsing the site, postings are displayed in posted chronological order newest to oldest.

3. Craigslist rules don't allow duplicate postings, but you may post, delete, and repost as often you want (to keep your posting near the top of results).

4. Craigslist is free!

5. If you find yourself using Craigslist often, you may want to sign up for a free account, which will smooth line posting an ad and keep a record of your ads. Click on "my account" on the home page to create one.

6. Craigslist has a FAQ and help area! And it's available right here: click here.
