Saturday September 9th, 2006 - Thursday September 14th, 2006

The 38th Congress of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers will hold their bi-annual meeting in Philadelphia September 9th to the 14th. This is a conference for members of ILAB and the ABAA, the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America. Many events are scheduled and planning continues. The emphasis is on fostering collegiality within the trade. Tours of museums, collections and libraries are planned and a trip to Princeton is scheduled.

On the 14th the group will decamp to New York City for the ILAB Congress Book Fair to be held at the Crystal Palace Room in the Javits Center. As of May the goal is for 150 dealers to participate. A larger participation of ILAB members is expected at the Congress.

Michael Steinbach of Antiquariat Michael Steinbach, Munchen, Germany will be formally installed as president of ILAB during the congress replacing Robert Fleck of Oak Knoll Books of New Castle, Delaware who is completing his term.

Members of ILAB and the ABAA who are interested in participating in either or both events may contact Susan Benne in New York at 212 944-8291 or email her at congress2006@abaa.org for additional information. Reservations for both events are expected to close by the end of May. Participation at the Congress at Philadelphia is $1,275. A show booth in New York is $4,000. Various hotel options are listed on the ABAA site: www.abaa.org.

A schedule of collector events in conjunction with the New York Fair has not yet been announced.
