The Book Club of California announces the appointment of Jennifer Sime as Executive Director, effective October 1, 2013.

In making the announcement, BCC President Dr. Anne W. Smith said,

“Jennifer has impressed everyone with her poise, intelligence, and her insightful enthusiasm about the mission and programs of the Book Club. She has an extensive background in the cultural and editorial affairs that are so important to the Club, including work as Managing Editor for William Stout Publishers and as editor and project manager for many Bay Area galleries and architectural firms.”

Jennifer has an MA in Art History from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. Her curatorial and research experience includes positions at SFMOMA, the Baltimore Museum of Art, Johns Hopkins University, Lisa Sette Gallery, and the Phoenix Art Museum.

In accepting, Jennifer has noted, “While digital media have certainly changed the publishing landscape, the finely printed book continues to offer an irreplaceable literary experience, and the work done by the BCC to collect, publish, exhibit, and provide opportunities to consider and engage with this tradition has never been more important.”
