The WOW Factor - Back of Beyond Books uses Giclee Process to Create Gigantic Grand Canyon Panorama

- by Susan Halas

Though Kuenzig has yet to use it himself, he noted: “The Giclee process made a fair splash probably starting 8-10 years ago.  Artists were happy because they had control over the production themselves, the inks and colors, and they didn't have to commission lots at a time (and presumably it was reproducible later if they wanted to make more).  It took several years to become comfortable with the technology (lots of glitches, issues with color fastness, archival nature, etc).

“In contemporary art it is no doubt a great thing - because the artist can create in the computer and move it to print quickly and efficiently, playing with color matching, etc to their hearts content. It's only natural this is making its way into the out-of- print POD market. To the extent it fits that market, good for them.”
