A Show Selection from Antiquariaat Forum and Asher Rare Books

If you are looking for some classic, or retro hairstyles (for women), infused with French fashion design, here is a must for you: Le coiffeur Européen. This is a bound issue of 12 volumes from 1866-67 of a Parisian magazine devoted to hairstyles. The publisher, Loisel, and his wife, who owned a hair salon, provided advice illustrated with hand-colored plates. Item 15. $2,500.

Can anyone think of a connection between Hollywood and Bogor, Indonesia? Here's the answer. Item 69 is a collection of 38 single sheet promotions for movies playing at theaters in Bogor. They date from 1947-1953. They include many of the great, and not so great films of the era: Singin' in the Rain, An American in Paris, The Prisoner of Zenda, and Joan of Arc. They are mostly for contemporary movies, though a few were older ones not previously released in Indonesia. Most sheets were printed in the U.S., but additions have been made in Indonesian and Dutch. $2,500.
