Auction Update Review

The Quiet before the Storm

For the week ending Saturday September 29th, 2012 15 auctions were archived to the AED, 3 in US dollars, 3 in Swiss francs, 2 in British pounds, 1 in Canadian dollars and 6 in euros.  Five thousand five hundred and ninety-six lots were offered and 3,777 sold for a 67.5% success rate.  Total turnover was $4,547,571 or 73% of the high estimate of all lots offered.

No sales, looking exclusively at their book, manuscript, map and ephemera lots, sold a million dollars of material.  Of course, the Brook Astor Sale at Sotheby’s realized $19 million but only 29 of the 902 lots were in the categories AE encompasses.  These lots realized $237,193.
