Seven Bookseller Catalogues Up For Review

- by Michael Stillman

Seven new catalogues

Seven new catalogues are up for review in this month's issue of Rare Book Monthly. The William Reese Company revisits the greatest Americana sale of the 20th century, by that century's greatest collector in the field, Thomas Streeter. Every title in the catalogue was in the Streeter sale, a few even being Streeter's personal copy. There is also a new catalogue of rare Americana offered by David M. Lesser Fine Antiquarian Books reviewed, as well as one of Western Americana from Michael D. Heaston Rare Books & Manuscripts.

Jonathan A. Hill, Bookseller, takes us to the other side of the world with a catalogue of Japanese and Chinese books, manuscripts, and scrolls. Maggs Bros. will bring you to every continent and many islands on earth with their collection of voyages and travel. Riverrun Books & Manuscripts offers a catalogue of material pertaining to the transmission of medical knowledge. It ranges from centuries-old books, once the primary means of informing others of recent medical developments, to today's more common form – medical journals. We close with a more poetical selection of offerings, Peter Harrington's catalogue of poetry.
