Leslie Hindman, the Chicago auction house, continues to increase its footprint in the books, manuscripts, maps and ephemera fields with the issuance of a sumptuous catalogue, No. 167, a full size presentation reminiscent of many of the best catalogues issued over the past ten years.  Chicago, for years a backwater to the vibrant New York market and a third place finisher to the best Boston and West coast houses has always had the material but not for decades a house to conduct important sales.  Leslie Hindman has stepped into the opportunity and for almost eight years now, increasingly placed itself among the important houses in the field.  It is an encouraging sign and an indication.  This catalogue continues their upward trend.  The sale of Fine Books and Manuscripts Including Americana is on 9 August.
